Sophie Bathgate and Rupert Power First met at nursery school when they were three years old, and although school and university took them to different places, they remained good friends.
After leaving university they wanted to go into business together, and hit upon the idea of a restaurant.
"When I was growing up my father used to travel a lot, and we only got to spend time with him in a restaurant," Power explains.
Bathgate's father, on the other hand, owned a chain of pubs and restaurants, so going into catering seemed an obvious path for her.
In order to find ideas and potential gaps int he UK market, the prospective business partners went travelling in the US, where they saw the success of the steak houses.
